Hi, my name is Eric McMillan and I am the author and creator of RealEstateStinks.com and DirectSalesDomination.com.

The reason that I started this profile is because I was sick and tired of being tied down by my traditional real estate businesses. I spent way to many hours for good wages, but didn’t have time to enjoy it. Then came late 2007 and early 2008 and the Real Estate bubble bursts leaving many people in the industry scrambling for an answer. Fortunately for me, I was able to hook up with some business partners in another industry that showed me the way out of Real Estate and into the lifestyle I had always dreamed about.

The other reason I created this profile is to meet, network, and give back to others stuck in the Real Estate industry in a situation that was very similar to my own … and hopefully be able to inspire them to make a change for the better in their lives and stop letting forces they can’t control run their lives. Today, I am still my own boss, but am able to have the freedom and SECURITY, without the risk, that I longed for in years past. But before I get into the rest of my story, let me just tell you a little bit more about myself…

I was born in Miami, Fl and move to Knoxville, TN at the age of 2. I consider myself to be from Knoxville since I lived, worked, and went to school their until I was 21. Some of my friends describe me as a serial entrepreneur because I have always been working for myself in some form or fashion. I started a lawn care service when I was only 14 with a push mower and corded weedeater and blower. I later sold that same lawn service with over 50 accounts and a fleet of equipment for over $40,000 right before I graduated from college. I began my career in Real Estate starting in high school and it continues until today, although now, it is a hobby more than anything.

My family is the most important thing in the world to me. I am married to a beautiful wife and we have a young boy and girl together. The majority of my time is spent with them, which is an awesome thing to be able to do that most people never get to do because of a J-O-B. I am watching my kids grow up on a daily basis and am so thankful to be able to do it.

Together my family and I love going on vacations and have a special place in our hearts for the Gulf Coast, especially Gulf Shores where we own a house that we frequently visit. There is nothing like go where ever you want, when ever you want, and being able to do what work I need to from anywhere!

When I am not with my family, I am an avid outdoorsman and love to hunt and fish. Some of my fondest memories of life have been in the woods with my father and brothers. Also, I am an Eagle Scout and believe that many of the lessons learned while part of Scouts have played a significant role in my personal belief structure.

My favorite time of year is fall because of the changing seasons and … Oh yeah … FOOTBALL. I am a die hard University of Tennessee and Tennessee Titans fan (Can you tell I grew up in TN?).

My Story:

I mentioned the Real Estate bubble bursting earlier, but I wanted to dive into that a little more. The small businesses we owned in 2005 and 2006 were all in the real estate industry. We had several subcontractor businesses and built custom homes. We did over $8 million dollars in business during that time, which made me think we had made it. I decided to take a step back for a couple of weeks and just analyze all parts of our businesses and the parts of them that were out of our control (Gov’t regulation, Economic conditions, etc.) and what I saw was the perfect storm brewing!

All of the current market conditions prompted me to start looking for an additional income stream that would help me to hedge against and potential dangers in the market. I did not want to have my family in jeopardy by ignoring the obvious facts that the entire industry was going to be potentially facing. I didn’t want to worry about making the house, car, grocery payments, which would have happened if I wasn’t able to latch on to something else.

Out of my online searches I was able to find a business model that flourishes in any type of economy, but is especially good in a down trending one. It is not an MLM or network marketing deal where you are relying on other people to provide your income, but a legitimate business model that allows me to bring in consistent income monthly and has allowed me to escape the Real Estate industry collapse virtually unscathed.
